Choro Fair 2025 in La Esperanza, Intibucá

Every year, La Esperanza, Intibucá, dresses up for the Choro Fair, an event celebrating the choro mushroom, a wild delicacy harvested in the pine and oak forests during the rainy season. In 2025, this festival promises to unite tradition, flavor, and Lenca culture in the heart of the Honduran highlands.

In August, downtown La Esperanza comes alive with stalls offering delicacies such as choro soup, tamales, and innovative dishes with local coffee. The music of marimbas and guitars accompanies folkloric dances, while artisans showcase textiles and ceramics. There are harvesting demonstrations in the nearby forests and contests such as the “best choro harvester.”

Three hours from Tegucigalpa, this event not only delights the palate but also highlights the warmth of the Intibucá people and the importance of preserving their ecosystems. An unmissable date to discover the essence of Honduras!
